Some 2021 Successes with SOCOM Care Coalition
TDF continues to work closely with SOCOM Care Coalition. The U.S. Special Operations Command Warrior Care Program (Care Coalition)
was established in 2005 toprovide Special Operations Forces (SOF) Wounded, Ill, or Injured Service Members and their families advocacy after life
changing events in order to navigate through recovery, rehabilitation, and reintegration as quickly as possible, strengthening SOF readiness. Whether they are returning to operational status, moving into a different field or transitioning into veteran status, the USSOCOM Warrior Care Program (Care Coalition) will help them and their families get there.
Terminal Cancer
This veteran has terminal cancer. She and her spouse have three children. They are requesting enough funds to help them bring their mortgage up-to-date $1,347.40.
Cranial Helmet | $1,620
Baby was born with plagiocephaly that can be corrected with a cranial helmet. TriCare denied the helmet and will only approve if the child has cranial surgery which child’s specialist does not believe it is medically necessary. Specialist can reshape child head without surgery; the helmet is less evasive treatment option.
Developmental Dysplasia: Specialized Infant Car Seat | $450
SFC Martin has been exposed to numerous TBI events, beginning with a diagnosed concussion during combatives training at basic training in 2010, multiple proximity breech blasts, rocket explosions, and a parachute ski fall concussive event in 2018. His daughter is diagnosed with Developmental Dysplasia of the Hips. She was recently taken out of her Spica cast, and placed into a Rhino brace which has her legs spread to induce further development of her hips and sockets to support normal movement and function.
Due to this, the RSM and family have been seeking alternative ways to facilitate safe and as close to comfortable activities as possible, which have been tough to say the least. As opposed to a prone, or flat on the back bracing system for auto transport, they have researched a chair found it to be about the most suitable for their daughter’s ability to ride sitting up in a car for travel.
