Quality of Life: School Supplies 2014
In Summer of 2014, TDF partnered with Quality of Life. They had heard we did school supplies for children overseas and wanted to know if we helped children of wounded warriors. We do and we did.
The mission of the Quality of Life Foundation is to improve the quality of life of individuals and families who provide daily, substantial care for catastrophically wounded, ill, or injured veterans. We want to ensure that every caregiving family is recognized, accepted, and supported in their civilian community. http://qolfoundation.org/
For many spouses, they may need to leave their job to take care of their severely injured warrior – AND – raise kids with limited or no money.
Come late summer as many know, the schools start to send out their list of required school supplies for our kids. For some Moms – this became a point of stress and frustration. Imagine not having $100 to buy your kids school supplies.
TDF partnered with QOLF to buy school supplies and clothes for over 20 kids in August and September.
Note from one Mom. Husband combat wounded USMC veteran just shy of 12 years when he got out. He injuries include a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), severe PTSD, right foot fracture complications, and clavicle fracture complications. They have two children, 7 year old boy and 5 year old girl.
“I can’t thank you enough. I am in tears over your kindness. I was trying to scrape pennies together to get them pants and shoes and socks and underwear. My heart is so filled right now. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
