Gold Star Daughters: Young Women Initiative Summer ’21
TDFoundation provided $15,000 to help fund the summer of 2021 Young Women Initiative entitled The Journey with our partners at The Station Foundation. At the program 3 Gold Star daughters and a recent HS graduate of an Active Duty SOF warrior all attended a new 8-day initiative helping college-bound/college aged Gold Star daughters find an authentic path with meaning and purpose.
Hosted at a private retreat outside of Bozeman, Montana, The Journey is an 8-day program designed for Gold Star Students transitioning from high school and college, equipping participants with the mental, emotional, and psychological tools to confidently navigate the unfamiliar and unforgiving world beyond home. Through the course of the program, Students work closely with The Station to practice and embody powerful processes centered on challenges that often hinder growth and success: stress and energy management, goal setting and activation, and the fundamentals of living a life of character. Experiencing nature, mindfulness, creativity, and deep conversations, Students walk away with the tools, support, and community to move forward confidently on their journey into and through adulthood.
One of the participants remarked on their experience:
“I didn’t realize how much I needed to slow down and find stillness from within until The Station reminded me how important self care is to keep my inner fire burning. My experience this summer allowed me the time and space to reconnect with myself and find clarity amidst all the transitions taking place in my life. I left Montana feeling much lighter, and motivated to take the necessary steps for personal growth. Each day is a work in progress, but because of the tools learned I am able to set meaningful intentions so I show up fully present for the ones that matter most in my life and capable of pursuing my goals.”
