School and Burn Treatment Supplies for Joint Base Balad Iraq. Spring 2011
Email dated February 2011
We treat a significant number of children that have been burned by boiling hot water. These kids come from struggling families and generally can’t afford to get treated at the burn center in town. Keep in mind that we do not hospitalize these kids, we treat them at the gate and then turn them back over to their parents and advise them to seek additional treatment at the local clinic.
I would like to provide the parents of the kids w/ children’s vitamins, burn cream and small burn gel pads so they can continue to treat the wounds days/weeks after the incident to help stave off infection. I anticipate treating around one hundred kids during our tour.
In addition, enough school supplies to outfit 250 kids would be an excellent start and would probably carry us through the summer months.

Thanks once again for all that you do!
Email dated April 2011
The school supplies arrived and have been handed out to over 225 children. I’ve enclosed a picture of the JBB sponsored Iraqi Kid’s Day event where the supplies are bagged up and handed out to each child. We should have enough school supplies to get us through our mission here at JBB.
Thanks a bunch,
